Podiatry patients in the Stewartry, Dumfries and Galloway.
Treatment: The following techniques are employed;
- Conservative treatment - nail problems, ulcerations, infections and
conditions like verrucae, corns and athlete's foot
- Radical treatment - removal of toenails under local analgesia and
'freezing' of verrucae
- Protective therapies - manufacture and supply of foot appliances (eg.
Insoles) and modifications to shoes
- Corrective Therapies - Assessment of the walking cycle and posture
with prescription and fitting of corrective shoe inserts
- Preventive Measures - Screening for certain conditions and appropriate
advice and guidance on footwear, hygiene and self care
- Podiatrists are sometimes supported by a Podiatry Assistant who under
guidance will care for minor foot conditions
